200 Coldharbour Lane – takeaway refused

Posted on: 6th February, 2013 in Planning

200CHL200 Coldharbour Lane, on the corner of Flaxman Road is a corner shop which for many years was run as a house clearance second hand junk shop (see photo below). The second hand furniture shop closed last autumn, and an application was made in November for planning permission to operate the shop as a fast food outlet.
There were a large number of objections from local people – as well as the Brixton Society.
Lambeth have refused planning permission on several grounds: over concentration of food and drink uses in the Loughborough Junction local area; the proposed flue and air conditioning unit would be incongruous and dominant, and potentially would cause an obstruction. We welcome this decision.200CHL-trading post
