Block 336 art gallery in the basement of 336 Brixton Road are hosting a book launch on Friday 7th July from 6.30 pm.

“Big Capital – who is London for” is the second book by Anna Minton of the University of East London. Her first book “Ground Control” (2009) dealt with the privatisation of public spaces.

Big Capital deals with the apparently unstoppable process of tearing down social housing to replace with luxury flats for investors, as exemplified in the Heygate and Aylesbury developments in Southwark and Lambeth Council’s less advanced regeneration strategy.

Big Capital: Who Is London For? is published by Penguin Books.

At the launch event the discussion will start at 6.30 pm with the following panel participants:
Professor Jane Rendell (Bartlett School of Architecture)
Beverley Robinson (Chair of the Aylesbury Leaseholders Action Group)
Professor Loretta Lees (Leicester University)
Anna Minton (Author of Big Capital, University of East London).

The event is free, but please reserve a ticket through Eventbrite.

All donations will go to the Aylesbury Leaseholders Action Group.
