What we're doing

In both short-term and long-term developments, the Friends Group advocates an approach which stresses diversity and activity. We don't believe in showpiece designs for the sake of them, we're sceptical about 'branding' and think planning-only orientated solutions are old hat. We believe in management, outreach, and the development of active spaces that appeal to all parts of the community. This informs all the work we're doing.

We are currently involved in two areas of activity:

Short term crime solutions

The council and police have wanted to tackle the crime and perceived anti-social behaviour in Tate Gardens for some time. The Friends Group has been involved in discussions with the Parks Department about how to tackle this. We've had some successes in critiquing some more radical proposals, and are involved in what work does go ahead.

Long term input into redevelopment

We've managed to get a foot in the door to have a say in the designs of the major redevelopment.
