Brixton Planning Applications

We monitor local planning applications. Each Committee meeting considers the most significant applications together with any that members have brought to our attention. Where the Committee feels it expedient, we comment on applications. That does not always mean opposition; we support applications which gel with our aspirations. We have also involved ourselves in planning appeals.

Planning applications may be viewed at The Town Planning Advice Centre at Phoenix House, 10 Wandsworth Road, London SW8 2LL or at local libraries.

They may also be found online at the  PublicAccess website.

Lambeth Planning Policies

We monitor proposed changes to Lambeth planning policies. This includes such matters as changes to Conservation Areas. A major current (2009-2010) interest is the change of the overarching policy documents from the Unitary Development plan (UDP) to the Local Development Framework (LDF).

Lambeth has now (March 2010) adopted a policy for the local listing of buildings of special architectural or historical interest which have not made it on to the national list. Details may be found on their website HERE.

London Planning Policies

We monitor proposed changes to London planning policies. The Mayor of London is responsible for THE LONDON PLAN and other key planning policy documents which the Borough is obliged to follow when determining planning applications. We always try to comment when such documents are being revised.

National Planning Policies

We monitor proposed changes to national planning policies. We recently (November 2009) commented on the new, draft Planning Policy Guidance 15 (PPG15) which is a statement of Government policies on the protection of historic buildings, conservation areas, etc. This document is a vital part of the overall planning framework.
