National Planning Policy Framework

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has recently published an updated version of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).  You can download a copy using the link in our “Useful planing links” column above.

Understandably, it may be difficult to interest many people in the NPPF but it is important. It has a direct effect on planning decisions taken in the borough affecting people’s everyday lives. Local plans have to be broadly consistent with the NPPF and on any matter on which the local plan is silent or deficient, the decision will rest entirely on what the NPPF says.

Our local plan is going to be updated; in fact, the process has begun. We will report anything substantial here.
