Anyone interested in the future of Brixton no doubt knows by now that – despite opposition from the local MP, English Heritage, many local groups including the Brixton Society, and a 7,000+ petition against the plans – Lambeth has granted planning permission for this massive tower block in the heart of Brixton.
That battle may have been lost, but the war is not over. The SaveNour group which successfully campaigned to save a much-loved local shop is co-ordinating efforts to continue the fight by, firstly, pressing the Mayor of London to use the power he has to overrule the planning permission granted and, secondly, to investigate possible grounds for taking legal action for a judicial review of the decision.
