ROPER’S WALK

Despite overwhelming objections, Lambeth’s planning committee gave unanimous approval to the Roper’s Walk planning application yesterday (23rd November).
The image shows how out-of-keeping with the landscape the proposal is. It is from the Brixton Blog website which has covered the case extensively HERE.  The Brixton Buzz gave a blow-by-blow account of the meeting HERE. All the local groups, including ourselves, objected; as did Save Britain’s Heritage and the Twentieth Century Society. On the Lambeth planning application website, of the public comments, 517 oppose the plans, 9 support them. Our thanks to our Membership Secretary, Vivienne Lewis, who spoke at the committee for us and for the Friends of Brockwell Park and the Herne Hill Society (because so few objectors are allowed to speak!).
